Q: Elaborate battery in Trespass to a person ?

Ans: In tort of assault,  it is not necessary to touch the body of another person. 
Battery is actual striking of another person or touching him in rude, angry and revengeful manner.

Battery is the actual and intentional application of any physical force of an adverse nature to the person of another without his consent.

Section 350 of IPC mentions about the use of criminal force.

Battery means nothing but touching another person hostilely or against his will , however slightly.
