Q: What is the difference between Libel and Slander ?

 Ans:

 1. Libel is directed towards the eyes whereas Slander is directed directly to the ears.

2. Libel is the  defamatory statement which is made in  in obvious manner, such as by writing, printing, images, as well as effigies.

The defamatory statement is expressed verbally or by another medium, whether visual or auditory, such as gestures, hissing, and other means.

3. It is both a criminal offence and a tort actionable  per se.

Slander is just a civil wrong and not a crime except in certain cases.

4. Libel is actionable per se and can be enforced without evidence of actual damage. Slander can only be enforced by giving the evidence of actual damage per se actionable.
